The assistance we offer is normally short-term to meet needs in an emergency situation and this generous help is provided by donations from local groups, Church members and the public. As well as providing emergency assistance, our Signpost Service team may be able to point you in the right direction of where long-term help is available.
We may be able to help by providing:
Food parcels: We offer tinned and packaged goods that are generously donated by members of our church and the public; we may provide fresh food in certain circumstances. In exceptional cases we may give Tesco vouchers although this is not our usual practice.
Energy “Top-Ups”: We require the key or card for electricity and gas top ups which we top up ourselves, we go not give money for this purpose.
Travel costs: In certain circumstances where the cost cannot be covered from elsewhere, we will pay / loan travel costs for hospital visits, etc.
Accommodation: We can only refer members of the public to appropriate agencies for help. We do not provide a housing service ourselves.
Financial assistance: We may provide this through grants but only in exceptional circumstances and through referral forms from other agencies such as Citizens Advice Bureau, Social Services etc.
Household goods and clothing: We may be able to provide a voucher to purchase goods from one of our local charity shops.
